Show notes
Previously, Jonas worked as a manager at the football club Bayer 04 Leverkusen, and he tells us how he followed a dream, not a plan, to get to where he is today. He describes it so beautifully by saying that he repeatedly looked for doors—often with the help of others—and then walked through them to find out if this path might be the right one.
He began his career at Bayer – originally as an intern – and he shares with us why, after such a long time, he finally decided to leave the club. He considers this step one of his most difficult decisions and speaks openly about his motivations, including authenticity, getting lost in one's own path, and how he keeps this in perspective.
Jonas talks about key moments in his management career, including bad decisions and failures, how he deals with them, why they happen, and how they help him grow. When it comes to making decisions these days, he relies on a combination of good preparation and gut instinct. He also talks about how he's learned over the years that you can't talk to just anyone about every topic, but have to filter things down, and that spending time with friends and family is very important to him.
We talk about how he defines success and what he sees as the differences between personal and professional success. His definition of success has changed several times on his way to the top.
But alongside all the hard work and difficult decisions, there are also plenty of positive moments and experiences that Jonas tells us about and reveals how he celebrates and enjoys them. Enjoy!
